Musical DirectorChristopher Denton
Christopher Denton was born in
Leeds, and joined his first church choir at the age of seven. He
studied Music at the University of Sussex in Brighton and after nine
years working as an organist and choir director in the area he took up
the Organ Scholarship at Chichester Cathedral in 1997-1998, later
becoming Acting Assistant Organist at Ripon Cathedral. After
spending some years as an organist in Norway Chris returned to the UK in
2007 as Assistant Organist at Newport Cathedral, and in February 2010 he
moved back to Yorkshire to pursue a career as a freelance musician.
Chris has toured with choirs both as MD and accompanist and has given
concerts in the USA and Europe. He is married to Camilla and they
have a young son, Benjamin. Chris has taken over from Nicholas Hewlett whom we welcomed on 29th May 2009 as our Musical Director. Nicholas introduced us to a number of different types of music, among them sprituals, contemporary pieces, and Bob Chilcott's Little Jazz Mass. Unfortunately, Nicholas had to leave us due to ill health, but we hope he will continue to keep an association with us.
Tim is an enthusiastic and dynamic conductor, as sure as eggs are eggs - current members will understand what is meant by this!! Now that we have performed our concert with Tim, we have said goodbye to him, but we think we may not have seen the last of him............ More information about Tim can be found here
